Benefits of IncrediBuild for Incremental builds
Posted by Yoni Davidson, Last modified by Yoni Davidson on 08 January 2018 04:10 PM

Although in some scenarios incremental builds are short and won't get the same benefits from IncrediBuild as a full rebuild, you should be aware that this is not always the case.

When a change is made to core projects (projects that other projects depend on), an incremental build will trigger a build that will compile the changed project along with all dependent projects. This process can take a long time - sometimes almost as the full rebuild.

Furthermore, the additional productivity benefits that IncrediBuild provides such as the Build Monitor, the ability to stop compiling upon the first error, the ability to distribute the compilation tasks (thus leaving the developer machine's resources free for other tasks) and other productivity features are as valuable to incremental builds as they are to full rebuilds.
